One of the things to consider when starting a blog about taking your son to every Packers game in one season is the unthinkable: What if he doesn’t like the Packers? What if he doesn’t like football?
After all, it’s about father and son and sharing a journey isn’t it?
Yes and no. It is about all of that but that doesn’t mean this goal has to be the one you share. If my son doesn’t like football we will find another adventure to share.
Meanwhile this journey won’t be canceled. There is always a cousin, brother, friend or friends brother or son to take. What about the Boys and Girls Club? Consider taking someone else as your Plan B.
Actually that brings up a good point. Don’t have kids, but want to join the journey? Bring a granddaughter, grandson, niece or nephew. Godson, goddaughter or fraternity brother. The possibilities are endless, it’s up to you.
It will be an opportunity of a lifetime which will create positive memories that will last forever.
Will I be disappointed if my son doesn’t go on every leg of this journey? I’d be lying if I didn’t admit some sadness would exist, but in the grand scheme of things it will also provide an excellent teaching platform.
Not everyone dreams the same dreams. Figure out what your dreams are and go after them.
From another perspective: What if the Packers start out 0-4? Will that dampen spirits or deplete the tribe of followers? Probably, but I will say I am confident in the loyalty and dedication of Packers fans and the 16 Son Days community. In most cases road games, for example, are more about a social travel experience and less about a football game.
You can have fun anywhere and anytime – if you are with the right people. When you surround yourself with Packers fans, you are sure to have a great time!
Maybe my son won’t share a love for football as I do, but he likely won’t have a problem with lounging by a pool in Tampa, exploring a museum New York City or trying to find the next big music star in Nashville.
There is only one way to find out how things will turn out.
Buy the ticket and take the ride.
