To say 16 Son Days is about the preseason game in Nashville last week is an understatement. When the schedule came out I had grand visions of which road game I would have strong interest in going to this season.
Nashville was up there on the list. Sure it’s preseason but as you’ll discover, I like preseason games. That’s another blog post folks. But anyway … I had Nashville pegged.
I have only visited Music City once. I was about 12 or 13. My dad took us down there to see Roy Acuff at the Opry. We stayed at the Opryland Hotel .. I remember eating grits for the first time.
So if I had to pick a game that I thought would good for the family to attend – Nashville against the Titans was it.
I figured we might be able to work in a Nashville Sounds game too. (Farm club of our Milwaukee Brewers)
Enter a job loss.
Enter a job loss right in the middle of building a new home mind you.
I guess Nashville will have to wait.
Even if it’s about nine years from now when the 16 Son Days journey sets sail, that’s okay.
Because I realize that great goals take patience. It’s also a strong virtue to teach my son. Heck, my son? We all seem to lack patience these days, not just kids.
It took the Packers 30 years to return to the Super Bowl back in 1996 and it was another 14 year wait when the returned in 2010.
Talk about patience.
