Hi, I’m Krista! I grew up in the pacific northwest outside of Seattle. By the age of 22 I lived and worked on three continents – the U.S. (home), Spain (as a full-time student and part-time bartender), & Australia (working for the Australian Baseball League).

Jump to: YOGA. or TRAVEL.

I love the outdoors, dancing, and making people laugh. I have the biggest sweet tooth and am a sucker for sunsets and waterfalls.

Before quitting my corporate job to travel full-time in 2017, I worked for a major tech corporation managing social media, marketing, and events in addition to teaching yoga on the side. I majored in Journalism & Spanish at the University of Washington (go dawgs!) and so I decided to apply my knowledge and start a travel blog in South America.

Travel

My love of travel started at a young age. It was likely an early sign when I made my dad take a photo of me in every single “country” in Disney World’s Epcot. Travel & photos have been two of my longest, strongest passions.

I feel most alive when I travel – I love experiencing new things, visiting new places, and meeting new people!

In January of 2017, after saving, researching and planning for three years, I quit my job to travel the world full-time and go for the globe! I visited over 110 cities in 27 countries on 5 continents in one year. Find out  why I embarked on my adventure around the world  and  where the journey took me

After returning home from my trip around the globe, I was named SWISSGEAR’s 2018 Travel Ambassador. SWISSGEAR sent me on trips around the world, allowing me to continue to live my dream of traveling.

In November 2019 booked a one-way ticket to Chiang Mai, Thailand to witness the Lantern Festival. I traveled for six months solo, visiting Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, and Vietnam until the pandemic cut my solo travels shorts.

Maybe you dream the same (or similar) dream. Maybe you don’t believe you can do it (maybe you do!). If it’s really what you want to do, you can make it happen. I’ll be providing advice and recommendations along the way. Feel free to reach out with questions, comments, and tips!

Join me on my journey. I am honored and so stoked to have you here!

Yoga

I’m 200 hour certified in vinyasa (power) yoga and a certified yoga sculpt (hot power yoga with weights) instructor. I began teaching at CorePower Yoga in Bellevue, Washington in 2015 after completing my Yoga Alliance Certified Trainings.

I have led Yoga Sculpt Teacher Trainings and coached Power Yoga Teacher Training programs at CorePower Yoga. I love teaching yoga and have taught on three continents.

Grief

I dedicate my travels to my amazing, compassionate mom, Nancy – who passed away in June 2016 after battling ovarian cancer.
My friend and travel buddy Sarah passed away at age 24 after battling a rare bone cancer – Ewing sarcoma.

Through my blog, I share my journey with grief, after losing my mom to ovarian cancer and a close friend to a rare bone cancer.

I want to share my experiences and journey with grief because I know writing about grief can not only be helpful and healing for yourself, but it can also be helpful to read and learn about others going through similar experiences. My hope is that I can help touch someone as well, and maybe they won’t feel as alone.

From my personal experience, I have learned that grief is not something that ends, but changes and evolves over time. It is not linear and does not make sense, it comes in waves and bursts. Grief is personal and powerful, both crippling and courageous.

I am not a therapist, counselor, or doctor, just another human who is living with grief and sharing my experiences. I will be vulnerable, I will open my heart as it heals, I will share my stories through this blog.
