If you’re looking for a bit of luxury at a fraction of the cost, Airbnb is the way to go in Kuala Lumpur! We spent three nights at two different Airbnbs in luxury hotels with rooftop infinity pools that had spectacular views of Kuala Lumpur.

We saved nearly $200 by booking three nights through Airbnb as opposed to booking through the hotels.

The Face Suites

We spent one night in an Airbnb in The Face Suites, see the Airbnb listing here. We had a room and private bathroom in a condo in The Face Suites with access to the hotel amenities – most importantly the iconic rooftop pool. Although we were not able to get a pool towel as a condo guest.

What we paid (in USD):

  • Room (price for two people on a weekday)= $36.47
  • Cleaning fee = $14.58
  • Service fee = $6.40
  • Subtract Airbnb $35 referral discount (thanks to referring my brother!)

Our total = $57.45 – $35.00 = $22.45 for one night at The Face Suites

What you would pay booking through the hotel: Minimum of $177 for one night (and that is excluding fees!)

We saved $152 on our stay at The Face Suites (at minimum)!

We loved the amenities and location of The Face Suites! It is very easy to walk to the Petronas Towers from The Face Suites. This Airbnb gets booked out early so make sure to reserve in advance.

We disliked how crowded the rooftop pool was at night (but we guess that is to be expected). We also disliked how the pool is closed for cleaning until 8:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, when the pool hours state that it opens at 7 a.m. The sun rises at 7 a.m. and the pool faces east so you get a wonderful view of sunrise, but you won’t be allowed to take a sunrise swim if you are staying on a Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday night.

Regalia Suites

We spent two nights in an Airbnb in Regalia Suites. There were several Airbnb listings in this building – you can check out the Airbnb listing in the Regalia Suites that we selected here. We selected one of the nicer listings with a bedroom in a modern condo with a private bathroom, but other Airbnbs in the building can start as low as $20 a night.

What we paid (in USD):

  • Room (price for two people on weekdays)= $34.35 x 2 nights = $68.70
  • Service fee = $8.56

Our total = $77.26 for two nights at Regalia Suites

What you would pay booking through the hotel: Minimum of $60 a night or $120 for two nights (and that is excluding fees!)

We saved $42 on our stay at Regalia Suites (at minimum)!

While we liked this accommodation and the great view of the skyline from the rooftop pool, we disliked the location of the Regalia as it was difficult to get around (it didn’t help the closest metro station was closed during our stay).
